About Brinley Meyer . . .

I have been dressing up, acting, creating theatre productions and telling stories for as long as I can remember – and loved every minute of it!!

In 2002, I was thrilled to received a Duesbury’s CAT Award (Canberra Area Theatre Award) nomination for “Best Actress in a Play”, for my performance of Gwendolen in the Orange Theatre Company’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest.

Gwendolen is one of my favourite roles of all time – she has this wonderful sense of poise and grace – coupled with this persona that is deliciously cheeky, curious and seductive.

I have to admit I love to add a devilish twist to the role I’m playing!! My other favourite character being Rita Hayworth’s famous Femme Fatale – Gilda. Here's me performing Gilda in 2003!!

However, being versatile is very important to me!

I always aim to expore a wide range of characters that challenge and stretch my skills, emotions and imagination!!

I love finding the essence of a character, surprising an audience, discovering the truth of a moment and entertaining people!! One of the best things is to give an audience an experience; something that makes them feel and think.

In 2004, I moved to Sydney and have been building upon my acting skills through intensive courses at NIDA, The Power of Acting course at the Actors Centre Australia (ACA) and most recently, the full-time Journey Program at ACA. I have also gained much experience through many short films and theatre productions I have been involved in over the last 2 years.

A short film, Warzone, directed by Keith Johnson, in which I play a compassionate Iraqi women, recently screened in the Paste Film Festival, in Georgia, USA.

I am also one of the original committee members of the new charity Astara Angels.

This charity established itself in 2005 with the intention of raising money, through exciting and creative events, to build an orphanage in Rishikesh, India, for abandoned girls.

The Charity’s first event, “Colours for India”, on the 17th of February 2006, was a huge success.
